I have been cleaning throw up off the carpet in Anakha's room for the past hour 1/2.. It was a crime scene for sure. She woke up and had no notice of the coming event. We had spaghetti and choc.pudding dirt dessert for FHE treat. Yup. DIS-GUS-TING!
I was mad. I am tired of our family passing this uck bug around. Out East we rarely got the flu. Maybe one or 2 of us got it once a year. Since moving here we have gotten sick every few months. I am so done with it. I am exhausted with laundry piling up in general and then add this mess in every 6 weeks or so and it is too much.
As she was showering and I looked at the mess I had ahead of me I just started to cry. I went in the living room and cried and prayed. I wanted this bug, flu, bacteria, whatever it was to be gone. Tobin has suffered for a week now with every diaper blowouts, fever, and throw up as well. I wanted to know what I could do to keep it away and how to clean up the mess properly.
I have been told and know to disinfect, clean, freshen the house with fresh air, open windows, clean clean clean. Everything.walls, doorknobs beds, chairs, carpets etc. But somehow this bug is lurking. Or we just keep getting it out of the house. While cleaning the mess, mad a crying, the words to a hymn often sung in our church came to mind. Before I went back to bed I felt the need to share it here with you.
I guess even though my hardships of this horrible bug may seem just too much to me, I really can feel the Lords hand reminding me how many blessings I have in our life.
So, this is me wishing you the ability to remember your blessings despite any difficulties or annoyances Life may throw at ya today.Happy Tuesday! And now , I sleep.
Count Your Many Blessings
When upon life’s billows you are tempest-tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings; name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings; name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.
[Chorus]
Count your blessings;
Name them one by one.
Count your blessings;
See what God hath done.
Count your blessings;
Name them one by one.
Count your many blessings;
See what God hath done.
Count your blessings;
Name them one by one.
Count your blessings;
See what God hath done.
Count your blessings;
Name them one by one.
Count your many blessings;
See what God hath done.
2. Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings; ev’ry doubt will fly,
And you will be singing as the days go by.
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings; ev’ry doubt will fly,
And you will be singing as the days go by.
3. When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you his wealth untold.
Count your many blessings; money cannot buy
Your reward in heaven nor your home on high.
Think that Christ has promised you his wealth untold.
Count your many blessings; money cannot buy
Your reward in heaven nor your home on high.
4. So amid the conflict, whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged; God is over all.
Count your many blessings; angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.
Do not be discouraged; God is over all.
Count your many blessings; angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.

Hi, I've been lurking for a bit. But wanted to say has your ward been having issues w/ sick kids in nursery? Do you know if they regularly clean the toys? If you have been cleaning like crazy I would think it is coming from outside. My nephews were constantly sick by middle of the week every time they went to nursery. Not sure if you have one in nursery but maybe primary? I hate cleaning up puke. Weeks of it would definitely send me over the edge. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteick, NO fun having constantly sick kiddos. I didn't even think about the nursury/primary issue....I know you are in nursury so you'll probably know if the toys are cleaned regularly (if not it is the PERFECT youth night service activity!)Also, do you guys give them a squirt of hand sanitizer when they come in and when they leave? Love ya, hang in there...wish I could help :/
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about the sickness. I remember those days.
ReplyDeleteI love the hymn you shared!
Ugh. I hate it when the kids are sick. Hope everyone is feeling better by now. Perhaps it is a blessing in disguise. Maybe you guys are all building up immunity. (fingers crossed!)
ReplyDeleteMy dear, I was just catching up, and saw you mentioned about losing your brother and grandfather this past summer. I'm so sorry.
Hugs and prayers coming at ya!
